Durable shopping

So you go to your supermarket to by vegetables or fruits. What do you put those oranges or apples in? Plastic bags most likely. Not very eco-friendly unless you reuse them (which is not very likely since they tend to break easily).

But there is an alternative: reusable bags. I've seen these on the market for some time but you have to go to special stores to get them. I wanted mine to be personal so I looked through my wardrobes and found this old see-through curtain fabric. I combined this with some leftover scraps from an old sewing project to make some nice reusable and durable bags. And since the fabric is lightweight it doesn't add to the weight of the fruits. Easy to make and wonderful to use!

Dice ear jewellery

Here is some ear jewellery me and Jocke did. D10 dice. We'll probably produce more of these (since most of them sold out very quickly) from different size and style dice. Below is a variation with feathers:

Truly Victorian Grand Bustle (TV 108) with slight modifications to the pattern. Wonderful to wear!

Pleated overskirt

Red tafetta overskirt, pleated at waist and gathered to a pouf at back. Foundation garmets are a pleated black brocade skirt and a bustle to give the extra fullness at the back.

Neck pillow

Here's a neck pillow I made. I used a soft velvet for the upper side, and a rougher material for the underside so that the pillow will not slip away. Easy enough to make and takes about 15-30 minutes to put together.

Hair Decorations

I've been out of inspiration lately, but today I had an idea about a series of crafted wooden combs and hair accessories. Since I'm not a very good carpenter and since I do not have access to wood crafting tools at the moment I went through what little hobby materials I had (and since I'm staying at my parents' house over the holidays that is not very much). I found some silver wire, some brass wire and some glass and plastic pearls. The result is two decorative combs.

I have never tried to make these before and I have to work a little on my technique. I will definitely make more of these in time. Enjoy!
